I'm sure that if you are thinking about getting to university by bicycle, you'll experience the same thing that happened to me (the writer of this site) and to most new cyclists as most people have false prejudices about bikes. Once you've got over these, you're ready to start.
We suggest taking 3 steps to get started:

1.Get a bike. If you don’t have one, you can borrow one from BiciCampus (see how here). Or you can visit our section "Buy your bike".

2.Find out about the route. Plan your own itinerary to get to university. Find existing routes on this page.

3.Ride safely. Finally, practise your cycling skills: visual control of the environment without veering off the path, signals for manoeuvring, gear changes. Find out about safety measures for you and your bicycle. For more information, enter: www.bacc.info.
Bike thefts
Unfortunately, there are a lot of bike thieves interested in getting their hands on your bike. To beat them at their own game, remember these 6 pieces of advice:

1.Buy a good lock.

2.Think carefully about where you leave your bike.

3.Keep the receipt and personalise the bike.

4.Always lock it up well.
-
5.Make a record of your bike’s physical characteristics and attach a photograph.

6.Love it a lot and it will be faithful to you.
